It is a conversation between Guru and his disciple, the stories are imaginary or real that is not mentioned but it will keep you hooked on to.
Some might say they are real, some might say they are imaginatory.
But the book is definitely worth the read.
A little expensive but interesting and can be completed in less than 5 days with 3-4 hours of reading.
It contains mantras, that have meaning explained in short and concise.
The Upanishad is one of the rarest books and will keep you engaged.
If you need more on Upanishad then you have Upanishad Ankh. I haven't read it but it should be interesting and is worth spending time on.

They contain shlokas about stuthi(praise) about God, about how the universe was created, and it contains conversation about God and the mortal world, and there are questions between Guru and disciple about the immortality of the soul and the praise of God(Brahma).
The book will leave you spellbound and it will give you a thrill for completing the book.
If you like the book then definitely go for Upanishad Ankh for another round of conversation between Guru and disciple.
