What is the gain of reading the shastras - Part 16
Alright, How to earn the respect of others without arguing about earning it.
Are you struggling for earning respect of others?
Does it take you hours of time and days to earn some respect of people?
Do you think that you have to prove yourself and earn your way with others?
If people don't respect you then you are doing something wrong by doing certain things.
What are those things you may ask?
It could be a certain quality of a trait that you may not display.
It could be tolerant, adaptable, humble, kind, honest, noble, non-violent, hatred, jealousy, anxiety, argumentative about certain concerns.
If you become a spiritual person and develop all the good qualities mentioned in Gita and other shastras then you will earn the respect of others.
If it's lack of interest, or a reading challenge of any other reason then you must overcome it by reading the shastras.
If you want to develop and build your personality then the shastras are just the right resource.
Okay, if you read the shastras then you will be worthy of respect and you will grow in every possible manner, a better person, salesmen, marketer, team player, leader, all aligned up for your victory.
Relax, be patient and you will read what's important and you will head towards the right direction.
Arguing won't help, you need to display tolerance, adaptable, patience, or any other trait, be calm and composed, stop being arrogant, don't become frustrated, don't become violent, build your personality and you will earn your respect with time.
Okay, you may be a little less good-looking or undisciplined but you can state that 'I'm not the body, I'm a soul. The body is temporary and the soul is permanent.'
You can even become a first-class devotee and people will become less disrespectful towards you.
But start your journey with the Gita. Start your journey with the good qualities by reading the shastras.
If you read the other shastras you will read about the great devotees of God and be inspired to live the way they lived.
Bhakt Charita Ank has the characters of all the famous characters of Ramayana and Mahabharata. It's interesting to just even read 2-3 pages of these devotees.
Okay, if your earning less money in your career and you may get anxiety, but once you develop the spiritual qualities you will earn your money and riches along with your respect.
See, life is not a race and don't run as though you have to win a race, life is more like a marathon, you have to run at a constant pace, once you read the shastras then one day you will be able to finish the marathon. Believe that you can finish this marathon by developing the spiritual qualities.
You can also read Sant Ankh, another great book about the devotees.
Then you can read Santvani Ankh, another great book about devotees.
If you have such great characters from the Gitapress Books, why won't you display the right qualities and earn your respect.
It's not impossible, it can be conquered, believe that you can conquer your battles and earn your respect in life.
If still people don't respect you, talk about how much you have read the shastras and say that I have Self-respect and I am a first-class devotee. See if that makes them rethink of disrespecting you.
Life is going to be a wonderful experience if you have self-respect and if you have accepted yourself then others will also accept you.
Life has to be lived for the betterment of yourself. if you just do things for betterment of others and won't do things for the betterment of you then what's the use serving others.
Be a little selfish for your own betterment.
Don't serve people with hurting your self-respect. Don't become egoistic which demands for over-respect.
There is a lesson in Radhakrishna episode.
This is in Hindi-
Dusro ke saamne jhukna seekihye, jhukne mein koi burayi nahin hai.
Lekin kya baar baar jhukna zaroori hai? nahin.
Baar baar kisi ki saheytha leni chahiye? Nahin.
Which means-
Learn to bow in front of people when you need to. There is nothing wrong in bowing when you need to.
But don't go on bowing every time.
Don't ask for help every time from one person.
When you learn to bow in front of others you will become less arrogant and you will respect others and you will earn your respect someday.
But don't bow in front of one person every time.
Becoming a spiritual person will earn you respect or at least self-respect.
Don't become depressed and sad if someone doesn't respect you , earn your respect and read the shastras, you will accept yourself automatically and move ahead and earn respect from others someday.
Also, Gita contains the three modes of nature - goodness, passion and ignorance. This will also help you in earning respect of others.
So, will you read the shastras and earn your respect.
The choice is yours.
No better way than to start your New Year with the shastras.
Goodbye and God Bless!
